About the event
Tobacco Ceremony & Concert with Manari Ushigua from the Sapara Nation alongside San Francisco songstress Jaleh
San Francisco is blessed by the appearance of world renowned shaman, forest-defender and political leader Manari Ushigua as he brings the spirit of the Amazon into the Bay Area for one very special night of connection, healing, and dreaming a new story for humanity. Alongside San Francisco's dearest powerhouse singer and mystic Jaleh, he will be sharing an intimate ceremony of tobacco ritual and sacred Icaros to open our hearts, activate our dreams, and align with the spirit of the Earth.
The sacred plant of tobacco, also known as Auneka, has been used for thousands of years by indigenous people such as the Sápara. The way the Sáparas take this medicine is through the nose, once the medicine is inhaled we will be guided by Manari with traditional ícaros, as he connects with the spirit of the medicine, to unify our hearts and vision for the new story being written.
The tobacco medicine invites you into a deep state of meditation which can liberate many emotions and parts of our unconscious mind.
Jaleh will open and close the evening in concert with her soulful collection of medicine music.
“We have lost our relationship with our land and life itself, but it’s not too late to turn the story around. If we begin to remember our dreams and live consciously, as one member in this network of life, the story of humanity can continue. We are currently at a crossroads, facing both climate change and a pandemic. It’s time to write the new story.”
– Manari Ushigua.
